Over the past year, the Security Department has been busy applying for and gaining approval for a grant.  We were successful in receiving funding for a federal grant through Project Safe neighborhoods.  The grant us geared tiward reducing the impact of crimes that are gun-related.  We plan to address several issues that will hopefully give our area youth more viable alternatives to guns and violence.

Our effort, "Operation Drop It Like It's Hot" will not be limited to the residents of the Shreveport Housing Authority.  Anyone, age 10 and over may apply for participation.  some of the activities will include:

•   Education on laws and statistical analysis;
• Hands-on sessions focusing on making better choices;
• Fishing and nature trail excursions;
• Trips to the Louisiana State Capitol and Angola State Penitentiary;
• Three-on-three basketball tournament for three (3) different age groups.
