 Naomi D. Jackson Heights is the largest and oldest development operated by the Housing Authority of the City of Shreveport (SHA). It is located approximately one mile from downtown Shreveport, where I-20 and I-49 intersect. Jackson Heights sits on the Metro 1 & 2 bus routes, which allows residents access to SporTran Transportation Services. Jackson Heights has 270 walk-up apartments. Floor plans range from one- to three-bedroom units. The rent includes water and an electricity allowance which is considered adequate for the particular size family. Electricity usage in excess of the allowance is charged to the tenant. Gas is paid directly to the gas company by the tenant. A laundromat, playground, gymnasium, and community center is located on the property. Neighborhood Networks operates a computer lab onsite open to both youth and adult learners. Two recreational aides are employed by SHA to instruct and oversee youth activities in the gym. 24-hour security is provided by the Shreveport Police Department School District Information
